Historically, Montreuil developed around workshops, detached homes and small apartment blocks. They were built in a sedimentary manner, resulting in an urban dialogue between very diverse elements. For the past few years, Montreuil has seen an important increase in population and an urban densification.
This project creates two neighboring buildings in the “Haut Montreuil”. Our project aims to respect the existing elements while participating in the restructuring of the urban fabric. Thus, the buildings are positioned on the site outlines, along the streets which will be reconditioned with the arrival of the tramway, in continuity with the other buildings on the rues de la Côte du Nord, Rosny and Paul Lafargue. They participate in the elaboration of a new urban front which defines the street, along an axis in mutation. Likewise, their position is sensitive to the existing fabric, as it follows the settlement and sun-exposition schemes of the site. The project proposes two distinct buildings, one deployed in the depth of the fabric, between two linear sites, the other forming a new street corner and stretching along the street.
