The Hotel de l’Artillerie benefits from a doubly strategic situation. It is at the heart of one of the most emblematic and most renowned neighborhoods of the capital, and at the junction between several of Sciences Po’s sites. This vast ensemble of buildings is partly listed, with its remarkable cloister and spacious courtyards. By choosing to settle in this space, Sciences Po is writing a new page of its history, and of the site’s history; a respectful and coherent page. The institution will return the building to its original vocation of training and education, while seeking to create the beating heart of a new-generation campus.
The Artillerie will be a space of reflection and action, a space of knowledge and life, where culture, nature, taste and technology, art and sport find their place more than ever.
This patrimonial jewel must be enlivened once again, in the most contemporary and just manner. The approach is respectful of the environment, the history and the constraints of the site, and in keeping with the project’s ambitions. The proposal seeks to articulate past and present, interior and exterior, partitioning of the spaces and a desire of openness; the main caracteristics of this large-scale project.
